Equipment

Choosing your Dive Gear

Selecting your scuba equipment is one of the most important decisions for you to make. Having the right equipment for your scuba diving needs will make your dives safer, more enjoyable, and your scuba training more effective. At Submerged, we will discuss your goals with you and help you select the most appropriate scuba equipment for you.

We will help you choose equipment that best suits your needs based on the type of diving you do, and that can grow with you as you continue your training. We understand that purchasing scuba equipment can be a sizable initial investment, and we are dedicated to making sure you understand the features and benefits of your equipment options so that you can make the best decision.

Our Equipment Lines

We have chosen our scuba equipment lines based on their performance, durability, and reliability – and we have personally evaluated all of the gear we carry by taking it diving. We are proud to be the only ScubaPro Platinum Dealer in Maryland! Click here to see all of the equipment lines we carry.

Our Equipment Philosophy

There is no such thing as “beginner” gear.
If you are just starting your scuba diving adventures, and are selecting your first set of gear, avoid selecting your gear based solely on price. Just because you are a new diver doesn’t mean you don’t get to use the same quality of gear that experienced technical divers use. It’s all life support equipment, and it should function as such.

Scuba equipment can grow with you.
If you buy it right the first time and care for it properly, it will last for a long time. You won’t spend your hard-earned money replacing broken equipment or equipment that doesn’t meet your needs any longer. This means that you will be able to add to your collection as you continue your scuba education and your equipment demands increase.

Scuba equipment doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.
We carry moderately priced scuba equipment that performs to the highest expectations. We know it works because we dive it in the most extreme conditions on a regular basis. We have the gear that you need and nothing else.

Doing it Right
The DIR Gear Philosophy

The tenants of DIR are fundamental skills, teamwork, environmental awareness, and a minimalist streamlined equipment configuration that is standarized throughout the team. The equipment configuration needs to be simple and applicable to all diving situations whether one is conducting a shallow reef dive or a world record push deep into a cave system. By having a standarized gear configuration all members of the team know exactly what and where everything is located on each diver thus facilitating a faster, more precise and correct response in the case of a problem. If the gear is standarized then the diver already knows how it works and the diver does not have to think about the proper response, it is done instinctively. Also, the gear must be simple... easy to operate, be free of or limit the number of failure points, and will operate in any situation.

Get more information on the DIR Philosophy by taking a course with our instructors because "Doing it Right" is not just about gear, it is an attitude and a set of values for safe diving.

We are excited to now be selling scuba equipment online! This is a new online store, and we are constantly adding products to it, so be sure to check the online store often for new additions.

Our store front is still our pride and joy, and we much prefer if you come by in person so that we can discuss your diving goals and equipment options. However, we understand that sometimes it is more convenient to purchase online, so please feel free to call or e-mail us with any questions you may have. Even though we are now offering online equipment sales, we are still your local dive store, here to help you attain your diving goals.
